    Chapter Notes: Another difficult chapter again. This time due to both lack of time and hard content. The end of this story is near.

    Alas, poor lizard
    Somehow, I was struck by this plaintive little story in the local paper:

    Mason City officials say one person was injured in a fire that apparently started when a shoe placed next to a heat lamp in the top of a fish aquarium overheated.

    The fire happened Sunday afternoon at a mobile home. Officials say the fire was contained to the aquarium that was a housing a lizard.

    Fire Capt. Richard Paulson says one person was injured and taken to a Mason City hospital. The person’s name was not immediately released.

    Paulson says the lizard died in the fire.

    Poor lizard. And I can just imagine the kind of living space where a shoe is likely to wind up on top of an aquarium.

    Good grief!
    I can't stop laughing about this, although the fact that this guy is an elected official should give me pause.

    In the opinion of Arlington Mayor Russell Wiseman, President Barack Obama's speech on Tuesday night on the war in Afghanistan was deliberately timed to block the Christian message of the "Peanuts" television Christmas special.

    Wiseman made the statements on his Facebook page, where he declared Obama to be a Muslim. Only people on Wiseman's "friend's list" had access to the post. ( Unsurprisingly, the mayor also doesn't get the Friends List concept )

    I'll be over here, listening to Joe Cool's Blues, one of my favorite albums. Wynton Marsalis' dad Ellis wrote some of the music for the Peanuts specials, and Wynton and his brothers join their dad and other artists to record these favorites. Now, that's family values transformed into art.

    Please take note: You own an electric razor. Therefore, shaving is a quick and easy procedure, and need not involve such pesky things as water and bleeding shins at all.     Holiday Fest Recs: Part 1
    First off, I have to mention Kinky Kristmas on [info]daily_deviant. I don't feel like I can rec from KK because I'm a mod and therefore know who wrote/drew everything, and also because I wouldn't even know how to choose what to rec. Everything posted so far has been phenomenal -- everyone really put their best foot forward for this -- and I highly recommend browsing through the posts.

    That having been said… I've been keeping up with six other fests in addition to Kinky Kristmas (so far). There've been a number of things in them that I've liked, and deciding what to rec has been a little tough in some cases. I've tried to go with the ones that stuck with me the most as well as picking a variety of things. So, here you go:

    I signed up for [info] slashy_santa again, because I'm stupid a deadline so soon after yuletide is exactly what I need, right?

    And I haven't even started on my yuletide fic yet - only 15 days left! At least I have finished re-reading my assigned fandom's source material yesterday, and once the big cup of coffee I'm drinking succeeds in waking me up, I'll try and get started on it.

    St. Nicholas didn't come and visit me tonight... but at least my delicious Lindt advent calender had a chocolate Nicholas behind today's door, so I can bite off his head as punishment. I also have a little St. Nicholas' gift for you: More Legolas porn!

    Author's Note - This story came to me after watching how Buffy treated Spike in SMASHED - AS YOU WERE (BTVS, Season 6). I wondered how Angel would truly feel, if he really knew how Buffy mistreated Spike. Yes, Spike is the Big Bad, and he and Angel normally don't see eye-to-eye, but they are family nonetheless

    Magnificently Happy and Magnificently Tragic

    So, I made these two complementary vids. Well OK. Perhaps they're not complementary, perhaps they're more like polar opposites. Or something. Anyhow the first I call:

    HAPPY!SEVEN, given that the boys are just being silly and laughing a lot. And I'm afraid that Buck and Ezra couldn't help being the silliest. Haha, who knew? But then, the second one is called:

    ELEGY, and this one's definitely Sad!Seven. Well ... you know what elegies are like. Although it's short, it is very sad. Damn thing makes me cry, for Pete's sake. Every darn time! Stick with Happy!Seven if in doubt. Music for both is from the gorgeous Brokeback Mountain soundtrack because ... yeah.

    Thanks go to the fabulously talented [info]ancastar who's been kind enough to offer help and advice in my first, stumbling steps to vidding. Gal's a marvel - check out her Supernatural vids, they're wonderful.

    Anyhow, I hope someone gets something out of these. I've learned a lot while making them, like how difficult vidding is but how much I enjoy staring at the boys for hours on end. And Buck and Ezra? Such comedy gold ....

    "Seven thousand, eight thousand, nine thousand, ten thousand dollars is the amount of financial recompense Mr. Larabee is paying you to decorate his dwelling," Ezra finished repeating to himself as he knocked on Mr. Larabee's front door.

    Ezra said, "Good afternoon, Mr. Larabee" when his black-clad employer opened the door. The interior designer stepped into the abode and sat down gingerly on the decrepit-looking couch. He opened his portfolio spreading seven different swatches onto the coffee table in front of the couch.

    Mr. Larabee sat down next to him, his hollow eyes gleaming curiously as he looked from Ezra to the swatches and then back to Ezra.

    Seeing that he had garnered Mr. Larabee's attention, Ezra picked up the swatch closest to him and began his pitch. "This fabric is rich ebony which I believe would enhance the culinary delights of your kitchen."

    Chris nodded in bemused agreement.

    Raising a second swatch up for his client’s inspection, Ezra continued, "Now for your bedrooms, this luxurious onyx would heighten the serenity of the oasis of the bedrooms."

    Mr. Larabee again consented to Ezra's choice.

    "For the games room, I thought this plush raven would add an extra dimension to the room," said the interior designer as he demonstrated yet another swatch.

    Chris concurred with the green-eyed man.

    Now on a roll, Ezra continued, pushing a little, holding two swatches in his hand. "Now, for the dining room, a splendid snowflake obsidian which has just a vein or two of marbled white..." but was cut off by Mr. Larabee's growled, "No, all black."

    Mr. Larabee's growl was accompanied by a glare which he threw Ezra's way.

    Ezra shrugged his shoulders, ignored the glare and set the two swatches back down next to the ones already displayed. He then lifted another piece of fabric up, fingered it, and said, "Well then, there is this stylish obsidian which would accentuate the elegance of the dining room."

    Chris was no longer glaring at him but tilted his head in an impatient manner, a signal for the interior designer to go on.

    Plucking the final swatch of fabric off of the coffee table, Ezra concluded, "The bathroom would look splendid in this lush *atrous* color. Atrous is another word for jet black, Mr. Larabee."

    Mr. Larabee groused, "I knew that."

    Ezra smoothly agreed, “Yes, of course you did.” Cajolingly he continued, “You have made excellent color choices for your rooms Mr. Larabee. May I also recommend a new, sumptuous, sable-colored, leather sofa to complement the décor?”
